Are You a Goal Setter?
Goals are meaningless without a plan that sets out how you will achieve them. If you want to achieve a certain goal, then you must build a path toward that goal. Goal-setting helps to prioritize your workload, build good habits so you can make everyday count. This blog focuses on two methods to achieve your goals in 2022.
Backed by science and success psychology, writing your goals down helps to optimize your day and tackle them so that you can live a more fulfilled life.
The Self-Journal© recommends setting time-specific goals and breaking them in to a 13-week period, as this is the equivalent of 4 goal-setting periods per year.
Be SMART when setting your Goals
The method is based on the following acronym, SMART:
S= Specific
M=Measurable
A=Attainable and Achievable
R=Relevant and Realistic
T=Time-Based
We encourage students who enroll in our professional certificate courses to create SMART goals to improve their chances of a successful course completion. To go along with SMART goals is time-blocking on your calendar.
Time-Blocks
Time blocking is a time management method that asks you to divide your day into blocks of time. Each block is dedicated to accomplishing a specific task, or group of tasks, and only those specific tasks. Unlike a to-do-list which is mostly a list of things you need to do, time blocking is specifically allocated time on your calendar, often color-coded. I do use this technique every day and it helps me be super productive.
In the WI Ergonomics Training Academy, we encourage students to block out the time on their calendar to complete the necessary course modules and not let anything overtake that time. Time-blocking all assignments, tasks, and course-related work is imperative to successfully complete our courses and a proven success strategy to go along with SMART goals.
Transform Yourself through Goal Setting
We find when students set goals, use a calendar to stay on track, follow our course tracker, while performing weekly reflections, and meet with our coaches at essential milestones, they finish our professional courses to achieve true transformation.
If you are interested in transforming your career with ergonomics in 2022, we currently offer three (online, self-paced, on-demand) professional courses and several mini-courses.
